The Nashville Jazz Workshop's popular Snap on 2&4 series presents acclaimed drummer Chester Thompson on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 8pm. In three decades of performance and recording, Chester has influenced countless musicians in the fields of jazz, pop, rock, and gospel. Besides performing with Weather Report, Chester's resume also includes Frank Zappa, Genesis, and Phil Collins.
At home in many styles, Chester has appeared as a sideman many times in the Jazz Cave. For his first performance as a leader, he'll present a varied program that includes Latin and Caribbean styles along with a little straight-ahead jazz mixed in. He'll be joined by Lori Mechem (piano), Roger Spencer (bass) , Rod MaGaha (trumpet), and Todd London (percussion & steel drum). Admission $15, $8 for H.S. & College students. On sale, March 15th.
