Jazz At Union Station | Wednesday, December 31, 2008 9:30 pm CST | | Description: Make jazz part of bidding farewell to 2008 and welcoming the New Year. First opened in 1900, the Union Station Hotel with its Romanesque Revival style design and 65-foot ceilings will feature the music of Six String Jazz from 9:30 until 12:30.
Located at 1100 Broadway across from the Frist Museum, the hotel was designated an historic landmark and after extensive renovation it reopened in 1986. The stained glass is more than a century old.
A perfect way to celebrate the passing of one year and the advent of another is to spend time in a magnificent old building while enjoying jazz from an earlier era played by people who respect the traditions of their forebears.
Six String Jazz can promise you an evening of melodic music from such composers as Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Rodgers and Hart,
Jimmy Van Heusen, and George Gershwin.
Six String Jazz consists of Sam Frazee, gut string guitar, Ned Ramage, electric guitar, Ray Manley, piano, Dan Wulfers, drums, and Wayne Renardson, acoustic bass. They play jazz from the masters with finesse and style, relying on skill rather than volume to project the tunes.
Come join us in a fine old building to welcome in the new year.
