New classes at Jazz Workshop feature percussion masters, Nashviille guitar legends

The World of Jazz Drumming is a listening class taught by the great Chester Thompson. The class meets Mondays at 6 pm for six weeks starting August 2. The class will hear music of the great jazz drummers and will explore the evolution of jazz drumming styles from early big bands to contemporary jazz. And who better to teach this than a master drummer, Chester Thompson! This is a listening class, and tuition is only $100 for the six weeks.

Tuesdays at 6 pm, beginning August 3, will be the World Percussion Master Class. Each of the six class sessions will be taught by a master percussionist and will focus on a different percussion style. Dann Sherrill will act as host for this class, with guest instructors Shannon Holland (African percussion), Kirby Shelstad (Indian), Tom Roady (electronic and studio percussion), Glen Caruba (Afro-Cuban), and Dann himself teaching Brazilian styles. For more information, visit NJW's blog.
